Runner-up in Competition Gas bracket class. I believe that is Marv with his back to us talking to Ron Tluchak. This car can be seen in a previous incarnation as Gary Light's "Purple People Eater" in the photos from the 1997 race at Great Bend, Kansas.

I was fascinated with the rather complex cooling system. A modern (everything is relative) water pump is mounted to the frame and driven by an external electric motor. From there the water goes into two small boxes, then through pipes to the block. The Coors beer can was actually a cover for some component which I can't recall now. Notice how the exhaust headers snake around the frame. Getting the headers to fit is common problem with flatheads transplanted into dragsters that weren't originally built for them since the exhaust comes out of the middle of the block instead of the heads.
